Award-winning choreographer Allison Orr called on five of her colleagues and challenged them to create works in the spirit of the everyday. They agreed. The six pieces, including one by Orr, will be presented as Project Forklift for two weekends in February at the Off Center.

You can buy Zhi Tea online, but only in Austin can you make your purchase at the company store, Zhi Tea Gallery. Zhi Tea specializes in oolong teas, "the sexiest and most mysterious of teas" according to co-founder Jeffrey Lorien.

Housed in a concrete building covered on the outside with peeling graffiti-esque murals, Okay Mountain is not your Upper East Side grandmother's art gallery. But Okay Mountain just won two awards at the prestigious international PULSE Contemporary Art Fair in Miami. Currently, you can see Christine Gray's Into the Light.

Frenchman Alphonse Dubois de Saligny built a post in Austin called Legation de la Republique Francaise. In 1956, the French Legation became a museum, offering a glimpse of French life in Austin.

An Austin favorite for over twenty years, the Eastside Cafe opened long before the recent spate of nearby trendy eateries. Early on, business ranked as hit-or-miss at best. Before long, word-of-mouth changed all that. I recently stopped by for a complimentary tasting. My recommendations appear below.
